10 SHOT FILM AWARDS 2023: HIGHLY COMMENDED – ‘EYE FOR AN EYE’
“the One Day Film School once again gave the 4th years a fantastic workshop in all things relating to Film! The students learnt about the origins of film, the complex framework of film production, and how different special effects and safety precautions are used to create exciting movie scenes. The students then took on a number of practical tasks culminating in their production of a ten-shot silent film with a focus on camera shots and angles, effective transitions, and a simple but engaging plot-line. The films created by the students were outstanding with Benson House receiving a runners-up recognition for their cinematic horror masterpiece; however one half of Alliott House were this year’s recipient of ‘The Oscar’ for their beautifully crafted short movie on betrayal, with Mrs Wilson herself lending a cameo role as a twist ending was revealed!” – OLIVER MURLEY, HEAD OF YEAR 9

YEARS BOOKED: 2008-
YEAR GROUP: 11 (one day film school)
10 SHOT FILM AWARDS 2023: HIGHLY COMMENDED – ‘THE LOST SOUL’
“The One Day Film School has been coming to Bedales for over 18 years and it has become a much talked about and anticipated event in our calendar each year. Each year the student productions have become more creative and original under the expert guidance and support from Ed and his team. It is highly recommended as an event – hugely enjoyable and the students gain so much in terms of learning about the film industry and developing their broader skills” – michelle cooke (head of lower school) & chloe hamill (head of 6th form)
STUDENT FEEDBACK (YEAR 11):
“As part of the Bedales 6th form induction the Young Film Academy brought their One Day Film School to the students – an amazing opportunity to bond and develop team-building skills whilst doing something creative and entertaining. The day started with the presentation on technicalities of filming and advice on avoiding common mistakes, followed by a rehearsal of a fight sequence, and a test run on making a 3 shot film, with us later producing original 2 minute pieces. The day concluded with our very own world premiere and the Oscars. It was a thrilling experience, that helped us get to know each other better, pushed us to try something we wouldn’t necessarily have done in everyday life, and think imaginatively, to voice our ideas, and create, in a fun environment”
